PCM & The Community
PCM Services and its service-oriented employees can be found participating in numerous charitable and community events throughout the DC Metro area. On a corporate level, as well as on an individual basis, we are passionate about contributing and giving back to our neighbors in need.
2017 Walk for Wishes
PCM sponsored a team for the Make A Wish Foundation’s Walk for Wishes, held April 9th on the National Mall in Washington DC. We raised $1,080 to help grant wishes to children in the DC Metro area with life-threatening medical conditions.
A great day for a great cause! PCM participants included Mary Seldomridge, Nancy McVicker, Megan Gerrity, Jocelyn Sivilay, Jason Gebbia, Joey Guenther, Sarah Herring & Jan Dinota. Plus several friends and family members!
2016 Walk for Wishes
We had a group of PCM employees & their friends brave 45mph winds & unseasonably cold temps to support the Make A Wish foundation through the Walk for Wishes on April 3rd at the Baltimore Zoo. The group raised over $1,000.

PCM Services to the Rescue!
Traditionally, Blessed Sacrament eighth graders jump in the fountain at Chevy Chase Circle on the last day of classes to celebrate them moving on to high school. Unfortunately the fountain was broken and there was no water in it… PCM Power Washing to the rescue!
AOBA Challenge Day 2015:
In May of 2015 PCM Services participated in AOBA’s (Apartment and Office Building Association) Challenge Day to cheer on students with disabilities as they competed in a variety of games as part of the 2015 Special Olympics program.
PCM Participates in the Ice Bucket Challenge:
In the last two weeks, the Ice Bucket Challenge has quite literally “soaked” the nation. The idea behind the challenge is to raise awareness for Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (ALS), also known as Lou Gehrig’s Disease, a neurodegenerative disease that affects nerve cells in the brain and the spinal cord.
Four PCM executives are the latest to take the Ice Bucket Challenge: Rick Baxter (VP Construction Services), Scott Parello (VP Exterior Building Services), JB Deerin (President), and Perry Paganelli (VP Parking Lot Services).
Stephanie Dufner of The ALS Association says the disease has “never before experienced this level of visibility across the nation.” Between July 29, 2014 and August 12,2014, The ALS Association and its 38 chapters have received an astonishing $4 million in donations compared to $1.12 million during the same time period last year.
Though dumping cold water over our heads is nowhere near as brave as the people who struggle with this terrible disease, bringing awareness to the public is at the heart of the Ice Bucket Challenge. With enough awareness comes great support, which one day will help #StrikeOutALS.
SHAPE Diva Dash 2014:
PCM Services had so much fun at last year’s SHAPE Diva Dash, we just had to participate again this year. On August 16, 2014, PCM Services’ very own Megan Gerrity, Melissa Whitfield, Alexis Wilcox, Jan Dinota, Wendy Aguilar, and Mary Seldomridge embraced their inner divas at the SHAPE Diva Dash at Rosaryville State Park in Upper Marlboro, MD. What is the Diva Dash? “Forget barbed wire, fire pits and mud. We’re talking a 5k course dotted with fun obstacles sure to challenge your agility, balance, strength and speed. Add in copious amounts of tutus, boas and bling, plus enthusiastic camaraderie, and you’ve got the SHAPE Diva Dash.” The SHAPE Diva Dash supports Becky’s Fund, The National Society of Black Engineers, and Blacks in Government.
PCM teamed up with two worthy organizations – SOME (So Others Might Eat) and Prince George’s County Public Schools – to buy 20 backpacks and fill them with school supplies for underprivileged children in our area.
St. Jude Game Day:
Did you know that because of the generous support of people like you and me, families never receive a bill from St. Jude for treatment, travel, housing or food? Why? Because all a family should have to worry about is helping their child live. Did you also know that St. Jude freely shares the medical breakthroughs it makes, which means that every child saved at St. Jude results in thousands more saved worldwide? This year PCM Services donated $350 to St. Jude. Now that’s something worth cheering about! Thank you for helping us take love for St. Jude kids into overtime.
SOME (So Others Might Eat):
On January 11, Jan Dinota, Megan Gerrity, Mary Seldomridge, Jocelyn Sivilay, Drew Burns, and Joey Guenther visited SOME (So Others Might Eat). They served lunch to more than 150 people and delivered a car full of clothes to those less fortunate. Jan comments, “It was gratifying to know that we were able to help, even if in a small way.”
Step Out: Walk to Stop Diabetes:
26 million Americans are living with diabetes, a disease that is outpacing heart disease, cancer and AIDS. On October 5, PCM joined the Stop Diabetes movement and walked with thousands of people from across the country to help change the future of diabetes.
SHAPE Diva Dash 2013:
On September 21, 2013, PCM Services’ very own Mary Seldomridge and Jan Dinota embraced their inner divas at the SHAPE Diva Dash in Frederick, MD. What is the Diva Dash? “Forget barbed wire, fire pits and mud. We’re talking a 5k course dotted with fun obstacles sure to challenge your agility, balance, strength and speed. Add in copious amounts of tutus, boas and bling, plus enthusiastic camaraderie, and you’ve got the SHAPE Diva Dash.”
Fighting Hunger in Northern Virginia:
PCM Services is proud to support Food for Others, the largest distributor of free food directly to people in need in Northern Virginia.
Even though Northern Virginia is one of the wealthiest jurisdictions in the country, more than 90,000 people are living in poverty and 30 percent are children.
PCM Services, along with First Potomac Realty Trust, helped sponsor The 10th Annual Food for Others Golf Tournament, held on May 20 at the Springfield Golf & Country Club – a beautiful private course in Springfield, Virginia. The event raised close to $30,000 to provide assistance vitally needed by our unemployed and low-income neighbors. Food for Others also provides a safety net for people who suddenly face unforeseen emergencies such as a family illness or the loss of a job or a spouse.
Walk For Wishes:
PCM Services would like to recognize Santiago Moncada, Jan Dinota, Nancy McVicker, Barbara Turner, Mary Seldomridge, and Tatiana Salas for their participation in the 2nd annual Walk For Wishes which took place Saturday, March 16, 2013 on the National Mall in Washington DC.
Walk For Wishes is a community-wide event benefiting the Make-A-Wish Foundation of the Mid-Atlantic which raises money to help grant the wishes of local children with life-threatening medical conditions. While not all PCM Services employees were able to attend, the PCM Walkers received a tremendous amount of support from their co-workers. PCM Services would also like to thank friends and family for their generous donations. We could not have been able to raise $1,300 for this wonderful cause without each and every one of you.
Don Bosco Cristo Rey High School:
PCM Services has been a proud sponsor of the Don Bosco Cristo Rey Corporate Work-Study program since 2011. Don Bosco Cristo Rey (DBCR) is a high school located in Takoma Park, MD, which provides a rigorous college-prep curriculum to Washington-area students who have very limited resources, but dream of going to college. The DCBR Work Study program allows their students to gain professional work experience while earning money to pay for a portion of their education.
PCM’s current student intern is Stephanie Cordova, who joined us in September 2013. Stephanie works in Human Resources and Corporate Administration, assisting with various personnel-related functions and providing support to the front desk team.
For more information about this valuable program, see the video narrated by PCM’s president, JB Deerin.
PCM Services supported the annual Walk MS in April of this year. A group of PCM Services employees and their children participated in the 5k walk, which was held in Columbia, Maryland. Through the generous support of their co-workers, the PCM Walk Team raised several hundred dollars for MS.
